LAWRENCE, Kan. – The (16) Ottawa University women's softball team ended the regular season with a double header sweep of Haskell Indian Nations University on Saturday afternoon. Ottawa won both games in six innings taking game one, 12-4, and game two, 8-0.
Game One
The Braves scored five runs in the top of the first to take the early lead.
Katie Enneking singled and then moved to second on an error by the HINU left fielder. She took third on a passed ball by the HINU catcher. Back-to-back walks by
Allison Kearney and
Madison Bunfill loaded the bases.
Emma Melvin singled to center, scoring Enneking to give OU a 1-0 lead. An infield single by
Nayely Delgado scored both Kearney and Bunfill and Ottawa had a 3-0 lead.
Aliks Serna's double to left scored Melvin and Delgado and Ottawa had a 5-0 lead.
Ottawa extended its lead over Haskell with a run in the top of the second. Enneking tripled to center. She scored on a passed ball and Ottawa had a 6-0 lead. In the fifth inning, both teams scored four runs apiece and the Braves had a 10-4 lead.
OU was able to end the game in the sixth, scoring two runs. Bunfill doubled to left and then moved to third on the throw. Melvin reached first on an error by the HINU second baseman and Bunfill scored to give the Braves an 11-4 lead.
Staci Bond, who was pinch running for Melvin, moved to second on a passed ball. Bond advanced to third on a fly out to left by Delgado. Serna scored Bond with a single to left and Ottawa had a 12-4 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, it was three up and three down for the Braves as Ottawa took the 12-4 victory.

Ottawa pushed two runs across home plate in the top of the first inning.
Katie Enneking walked and then swiped second.
Allison Kearney reached first on an error by the HINU third baseman, moving Enneking to third.
Emma Melvin's single to center scored Enneking to give OU a 1-0 lead.
Hannah Copeland hit an infield single, scoring Kearney to give the Braves a 2-0 lead.
The Braves increased its lead over Haskell in the top of the second inning.
Macey Morris singled to right, stole second, and moved to third on the throw.
Riley Newbold walked and OU had runners on the corners. Enneking grounded out to third, scoring Morris and Ottawa led 3-0.
Allison Kearney's sacrifice fly to center scored Newbold to give the Braves a 4-0 lead.
Ottawa scored another run in the top of the third inning. Melvin singled to right, bringing in
Elizabeth Palmer as a pinch runner.
Emma Ryan reached first on an error by the Haskell third baseman and Palmer moved to second. Morris scored Palmer with a double to center and the Braves had a 5-0 lead.
Two more runs came across home plate for the Braves in the top of the fourth. Enneking led OU off with a single to left. Bunfill's double to center scored Enneking and Ottawa led 6-0. Melvin followed that with a double of her own, scoring Bunfill and the Braves led 7-0.
In the top of the sixth inning, Ottawa extended its lead over HINU. Kearney doubled to center and
Staci Bond entered as a pinch runner. Bunfill reached first on an error by the Haskell second baseman and Bond moved to third. Melvin reached first on an error by Haskell and Bond scored, and the Braves took the lead and the game, 8-0.
