Maria Howard

Coach Howard is in her first season as the Assistant Director of Athletic Performance.

Howard comes to Ottawa University from Arkansas State University where she was a graduate assistant for the sports performance department. She was in charge of programming and coaching for the women’s soccer team, volleyball, tennis, bowling, and track and field. Howard also assisted with football during summer training programs.

Prior to her time at Arkansas State University, Howard spent June and July of 2022 as an intern with the sports performance program at the University of Kansas. She worked with men’s basketball, women’s soccer, volleyball, softball, baseball and tennis.

Howard was also an intern at the University of Saint Mary, Northwest Missouri State University, Lansing High School, Basehor-Linwood High School, and Bonner Springs High School.

Howard is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and is certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid. She graduated from the University of Saint Mary with a degree in exercise science and foreign language – Spanish in May 2022. She was a member of the USM softball team, earning Honorable Mention All-KCAC honors as a pitcher. Howard was a KCAC Scholar Athlete, named to the Dean’s List, and was a member of the Spanish Club and ROTC. She earned her masters from Arkansas State University in sports administration in August 2023.
