MARSHALL, Texas – The Ottawa University beach team fell 3-2 to Texas Wesleyan University and 4-1 to East Texas Baptist University on day one of the ETBU Beach Classic on Friday.
 
Texas Wesleyan L, 3-2
Blythe Manson and Carson Schuman won their first collegiate beach match with a 21-17, 21-19 win in no. 2 pairs over Andrea Malek and Grace Payeika. In no. 5 pairs, Asia Cole and Samatha Stahl earned their second win of the season, defeating Emily Lewis and Lauren Richards 21-15 21-18.
 
Kennedy Krokroskia and Loraine Ruiz fell in their no. 1 pairs match 21-14, 21-12. Brittan Lee and Bailee Nickel, playing no. 3 pairs, lost in three sets to Makenna Gamtt and Leyna Michel 21-14, 16-21, 15-9. Madison Brauner and Brenna Diller were defeated by Skyler Brooks and Sydney Alexander 21-14, 21-19.

Cole and Stahl earned win number three with their no. 5 pairs match victory 18-21, 21-9, 15-12 over Peyton Fredrick and Kyleigh Pate. Ruiz and Krokroskia were defeated in three sets by Callie Humphrey and Bella Sigala 21-10, 17-21, 15-3. Manson and Schuman lost 21-12, 21-16 in no. 2 pairs to Shelbe Adkins and Madison McDonald. Nickel and Lee lost to Nadia Brockway and Mona Salgado 21-12, 21-18 in no. 3 pairs. Diller and Brauner, playing no. 4 pairs for OU, lost 21-12, 21-12 to Hannah Perry and Bailee Kitchen.
