WICHITA, Kan. – The (17) Ottawa University softball team split its final day of the Friends University Tournament. Ottawa defeated Southwestern Christian 12-4 in six inning but was defeated 6-0 by (10) Midland University.

Ottawa took the lead in the top of the first inning.
Macy Roever led off the game with a punt single and then moved to second on a wild pitch.
Katie Enneking grounded out to the pitcher but moved Roever to third. Roever scored on an infield single by
Kara Hafenstine and OU led 1-0.
The Braves extended its leads over the Eagles in the top of the third. With the bases loaded,
Megan Kennedy singled to center, scoring both
Rachel Pederson and
Reagan Hammons to give OU a 3-0 lead.
Ottawa increased its lead in the top of the fourth.
Addison Spencer reached first on an error by the SCU catcher. A ground out by Enneking moved Spencer into scoring position. Hafenstine scored Spencer with a double to center and the Braves had a 4-0 lead. Hammons followed that with her sixth home run of the season, scoring Hafenstine and OU led 6-0.
Macey Morris hit her first home run of the season, leading off the top of the fifth for the Braves and OU led 7-0. Hafenstine scored Spencer with a double to left, giving OU an 8-0 lead.
Emma Melvin scored the final run of the inning for OU on a fielder's choice by Pederson and the Braves had a 9-0 lead.
Southwestern Christian cut into OU's lead with four runs in the bottom of the fifth, 9-4. Ottawa answered with three runs in the top of the sixth. Morris singled to center and then moved to second on a bunt single by Roever. Spencer scored both Morris and Roever with a double to center and OU led 11-4. Melvin's single to left scored Spender and OU had a 12-4 lead over SCU.
The Eagles had their first two batters reach base but the Braves did not allow them to cross home plate as OU took the 12-4 victory.
Inside the Box Score
- Kara Hafenstine went 4-for-5 at the plate, driving in three and scoring one run.
- Reagan Hammons had three hits in four at bats. She scored twice and had two RBI.
- Ashlynn Mercer pitched six innings in the win, striking out four.
(10) Midland
Midland scored three runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead. The Warriors scored one in the bottom of the third and two in the bottom of the fourth to take a 6-0 lead and the game over OU.
