The Braves suffered their first loss of the season in its double header split with (RV) Bellevue. Ottawa won game one, 3-2, but fell 5-3 in game two. OU hit .167 in the double header, scored six runs, hit one double, drove in six runs, had a .188 slugging percentage, walked five times, struck out 15 times, had a .241 on base percentage, and stole four bases.
This season, Ottawa is hitting .371, has a .438 on base percentage, and a .554 slugging percentage. OU has hit four home runs, and scored 70 runs.
Katie Enneking leads the Braves in batting average (.524) and RBI (13).
Ashlynn Mercer leads OU in ERA (0.30) and strike outs (16).
Ottawa is ranked 21st in the NAIA in at bats (202), second in runs (70), 11th in hits (75), 14th in doubles (13), second in triples (6), 13th in home runs (4), first in RBI (66), sixth in extra base hits (23), ninth in total bases (112), 26th in walks (24), 19th in hit by pitch (4), first in sacrifice flies (5), seventh in stolen bases (19), 16th in batting average (.371), 17th in on base percentage (.438), 14th in slugging percentage (.554), second in shut outs (3), 35th in at bats against (171), and 15th in opponent batting average.
The Braves are 8-4 against Texas Wesleyan University and are on a two game winning streak against the Rams. Ottawa took two from the Rams last year in Fort Worth on Feb. 17. Ottawa won game one, 8-0 and took game two in five innings, 8-0. OU is 7-3 against the Rams at Sycamore Park. The first time the two teams played against each other, Ottawa defeated TWU 5-2 in both games of the double header in March 19, 2009.
Texas Wesleyan University is 3-3 this season and enter the double header against the Braves coming off a split with Dallas Christian. TWU won game one, 11-3 but fell in game one, 8-7 on Feb. 13. The Rams are hitting .323 this season, they have a .377 on base percentage and a .451 slugging percentage. TWU has hit two home runs and scored 25 runs.
The Rams are ranked 48th in the NAIA in hits (43), 22nd in triples (2), 37th in home runs (2), 43rd in RBI (24), 42nd in extra base hits (11), 46th in total bases (60), 19th in sacrifice flies (1), ninth in sacrifice hits (7), 43rd in batting average (.323), 39th in slugging percentage (.451), and 37th in opponent batting average (.238).
Kylie Barnes leads TWU in batting average (.643), Izzy Valenzuela is the Rams' leader in RBI (7), and Abbie Bird is the team's leader in ERA (1.00) and strike outs (13).
Saturday is UT Dallas' season opener. The Comets finished the 2023 season with a record of 24-18. They qualified for their 11th ASC Tournament, falling to LeTourneau and Mary Hardin-Baylor. UT Dallas was selected to finish sixth in the ASC by the conference coaches and sports information directors.
The Comets return 19 letterwinners from 2023, including six starters and two pitchers. Three UTD players were named to the ASC Preseason Players to Watch List - sophomore third baseman Addison Caddell, sophomore outfielder Claire Pollack and freshman pitcher Allison Koch.
